Historic Inspiration

The name of each of the Carrollton Inn’s thirteen rooms and suites was inspired by a facet of the life of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the original owner of the neighboring Carroll Mansion. In 1776, The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 men, one of whom was Charles Carroll of Carrollton. Dying at the age of 95, on November 14, 1832, he was the last surviving and only Catholic signer of the Declaration. In championing the cause of independence, he risked one of the greatest fortunes in America.
