Historic Inspiration
The name of each of the Carrollton Inn’s thirteen rooms and suites was inspired by a facet of the life of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the original owner of the neighboring Carroll Mansion. In 1718, Maryland passed strict laws preventing Catholics from holding public office, voting, using Catholic schools and even building places to worship. In spite of this, Charles Carroll of Carrollton adhered to his Catholic faith throughout his life and served as a major force in changing state laws.
